Hi There! Long time no blog, I know. I’ve been working on a recap of our adventures on Katahdin but today I just had to share our great experiences yesterday.
On Wednesday Girlie will turn 7 (sniff). We threw her a Junk to Funk party at Trashcan Lid Productions and Jeff put on a fabulous event! Seriously folks, this guy is the Pied Piper. The kids listened to him better than I. Have. Ever. Seen.
At a Junk to Funk party the kids make music on percussion instruments that have been recycled from various materials such as car parts, buckets, pipes, even a shopping cart. Jeff lead them in a variety of sound games, then we broke for CAKE.
Sorry no cake pictures, it was a very melty ice cream cake and I was too busy getting it onto plates and into mouths. It was some serious cake though. Devil’s Food Cake with layers of ice cream, peanut butter, peanut butter cups and other candy. Mmm-yeah. I had some strawberry sundae cups along too in case of peanut allergies or chocolate issues but didn’t use them. (The ONE time I am totally prepared it’s unnecessary…. of course.) Which means we’ll have sundae cups for the next time kiddos are over.
After cake it was time for… SHADOW DANCING! The kids (and parents) loved this. There is a huge video screen set up with music playing and video clips on it and the kids dancing. Which gives me the chance to actually share a picture of my Girlie!
There has been a lot of discussion in the blogosphere about showing pictures of your kids on your blog. I don’t think there’s any right or wrong answer for everyone. I like having my picture out there. Handsome Husband? Not so much. So we decided that, until she’s old enough to really have a voice in the matter, I wouldn’t post her picture on here. This shadow though? Seems OK to me.
I definitely recommend Trashcan Lid Productions for any kiddo event! Or a grownup event. Jeff DJ’s as well as doing these parties (and a variety of other things). I could seriously imagine a fun girls’ night out at Junk to Funk (I wonder if he allows cocktails?)
Been to any cool parties lately?
Are you a blogger and/or a parent? Do you (or would you) post pictures of your kiddo?
