Hi There Friends! I’ve had a lot of fun reading the minutia of everyday life through Happy Fit Mama and Jill so I decided to share a day in my life. So, here is a Good ‘n Good for Ya (& Good Enough!) Day. (This was Monday. I needed the extra day to write.)
5:45am: Alarm goes off for the first time.
6:15am: I get out of bed. I always give myself about a half hour of snooze time. I set a backup alarm on my cell and try to get up before it goes off.
6:45am: This week’s challenge with Evolution Fitness is to get our fruits and veggies in. I start by topping my pancake with a couple sliced strawberries and tossing a handful of baby spinach into my iced coffee protein shake.
I slacked last night.…. um… don’t feel like making a salad with leftover chicken…. don’t have time to pack a real lunch so I put 2 protein pancakes and some peanut butter into tupperware and toss it in my purse. Girlie and HH have now gotten up so I kiss them both goodbye.
7:00am: Hit the road. I have about a half hour commute on Mondays.
7:30am: Get to work. My first appointment doesn’t show up so I start in on emails and do paperwork. Awesome:-( I have a few reports to write so the morning passes pretty quickly. To keep myself sane I treat the morning like I would if it was full of clients. Every hour or so I stand up, stretch, check facebook, walk around etc for about 5 minutes. I usually do this type of quick break to transition myself from one client to the next. During these breaks I also take quick notes for this post.
11:15am: My stomach is getting pretty loud. I heat up my lunch. I’m beta testing a new meal planning/tracking website for Evolution Fitness so I spend about 15 minutes
swearing at the blasted thing trying to get my brain to stop expecting it to act like myfitnesspal. I love pancakes but I don’t love them for two meals in a row. I commit to pack my lunch when I pack Girlie’s this afternoon.
11:30am: Back to paperwork. Faxing reports to various agencies. Brainstorm with a coworker about a confusing situation.
12:30pm: Meet with a new client for their first session.
1:30pm: Get on phone with the new client’s insurance company and start filling out their forms and faxing them. More paperwork.
2:30pm: Drive home. Manage to remember to drive the route that avoids schools getting out as opposed to the way I’ve been going all summer to avoid tourist traffic.
3:00pm: Let the dog out and get the mail. Empty the dishwasher and put the pan that we left soaking overnight into the dishwasher along with a couple other things that fit. Make and eat a Mounds Bar yogurt.
3:30pm: Get Girlie at the bus stop:-) The weather is awesome. I’m trying to delay driving to the bus stop as long as possible. I know the first snow or sub freezing temp will see me sitting in the car.
Walk back with her chatting about her day. Today is Girlie’s first day of her new chore: walking Spenser. I tag along to make sure everything goes OK (and it does). We talk about her day more while I unpack her lunchbox and pack lunches for both of us. (I want a real lunch tomorrow!) Her homework is reading so I loosely supervise while getting ready for the gym.
4:45pm: Girlie and I leave for the gym. I sign her into Supervised Gym and head up to the free weight area. Today’s my second time doing the Body for Life upper body strength training routine. I up the weights and feel awesome! I push myself and have a great workout! I usually hate being at the gym during prime hours but the crowds aren’t bothering me and I’m not feeling self conscious. Sometimes I do, when I’m the only woman in the free weight area and it starts getting crowded with bigger guys. Today I’m barely aware of them. I think it’s ’cause I got there in time to get a good bench. And… I don’t know, what makes one workout awesome and others just not work?
5:45pm: I sign Girlie out of supervised gym and realize that we forgot her ipod (before you yell at me for giving a 7 year old an ipod know that it’s my old one. Although if you like to yell at someone for their parenting choices this might not be the website for you). We were going to train for her school’s 5k but I can’t blame her for not wanting to run without tunes. So we agree to run tomorrow afternoon instead and head home.
6:00pm: Girlie declares herself way too hungry (bordering on hangry) to wait for me to make Caprese BLT’s (more on those later!) and asks to make herself a quick dinner first. She gets herself an Annie’s mac n cheese cup and some cherry tomatoes while I start prepping bacon. I empty the dishwasher again. Girlie tells me she isn’t in the mood for bacon. I consider taking her temperature or doing a little mental status exam but in the end decide “more for me!” and let it go. I let her watch some Phineas and Ferb on Netflix while eating and just after. I get her tub ready and HH walks up from his office. We chat while I finish making a new recipe: Caprese BLT’s. Which are awesome. Handsome Husband and I devour them at the kitchen counter.
7:30pm: We pick up from dinner and I get a load of laundry started. HH gets Girlie ready for bed. I give her a kiss goodnight and go to get myself cleaned up. (Yes, I did all that cooking etc in sweaty gym clothes.) I relax and read for about an hour. I’m reading Neil Gaiman’s “NeverWhere” and it is awesome.
9:00pm: I join HH on the couch to watch “Copper” from last night. More awesome. I have a little vanilla chobani with peanut butter for a snack/dessert. While watching TV I do a little photo editing, facebook reading, and playing Panda Jam.
10:00pm: Time to get ready for bed. I remember the laundry I started and run down to the basement to put it in the dryer. I head to bed where I read a little more “NeverWhere” and drift off probably around 10:30- 10:45.
Wow, I’m tired just reading that. I’ll post the recipe for Caprese BLT’s later.
Do you watch Copper? Have you read any Neil Gaiman? This is my first foray and I love it! What do you think of these “day in the life” posts?
