Hi There Friends!
Last weekend I got my WOW Rewards check. It’s a program through my job where we can earn money by making healthy choices. I wanted to put the money into continuing a healthy lifestyle by getting some new running shoes. I had been fitted at the running store back in October and told that I no longer pronate enough to need special shoes- yay! But the Mizuno Inspires were a little too pricey for that day. Since then they’ve come out with the 10’s so I was able to find a pair of Inspire 9’s on Amazon for under $100. Score!
I also ordered a couple Bic Bands. All my workout headbands have seen better days. It seems like only higher-end running headbands will actually stay on my little melon. I tried a pair of Goody ones I found at Target but they were way too big. I’m hoping the Bic Bands work. I’ve had the best luck with Sweatybands but Bic Bands are a little less money and contribute to charity. Fingers crossed!
Wednesday morning I was getting ready for work and – ugh- my black boots wouldn’t zip up. The zipper was completely broken! (I took pictures but I’m still figuring out the camera on my new phone and they’re completely blurry.) I was not planning on buying new boots right now but a lot of my work outfits involve wearing black boots. It’s just too flippin’ cold and snowy here for heels or flats!
Wednesday night I skipped my workout to hit a couple stores and had absolutely no luck. It seemed like everyone had sold out of most of the cute boots and didn’t order more stock. I was already feeling cranky and tired and just worn out. Since then I’ve read on a few blogs that the past few days were rough for those who struggle with anxiety and/or depression. I swear there’s something to the full moon. Speaking of the moon, the start of shark week around here didn’t help! That night we threw the meal plan out the window and ordered pizza.
Thursday I had to drag myself out of bed. I was dragging all day. I seriously had to promise myself little rewards after each littIe task. “If I write this up I can check facebook. After this report I can read a blog.” I hit up the office candy stash a few times. The front office staff actually commented on how unusual it was for me to do that. (In a nice way, like “such a rare treat, you deserve it”) Which even in my funk I was proud of. Years ago at a previous job I was the queen of eating office candy!
I decided I needed a good night’s rest and went to bed right after Girlie. I may have been asleep before my 7 year old!
Friday morning I woke up in a much better space. Work went well and afterwards I hit the outlets for some boot shopping. The first one I went to had 6 pairs I liked and an awesome saleswoman. I wish I had thought to take pictures. When I told her my tale of woe and my shoe size she said “You’re gonna love me” and brought out 1 pair of last year’s higher end leather boots, (read: originally waay out of my price range!) that were in my size and on clearance for the price of the lower quality versions I was looking at.
Mission accomplished! I headed home earlier than planned only to find that my Mizunos had arrived! Girlie had the day off from school so we played a few board games. After game time we got ourselves all ready for the gym. Girlie had her bathing suit and I had my new Mizunos. I signed her into Supervised Swim and hit the treadmill.
Four miles later I had a big smile on my face! I had not run any distance at all in probably 6 months until last week’s 3 miles and here I was doing four! Muscle memory is a beautiful thing.
Friday night I did our meal planning while Handsome Husband and I watched Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. Definitely a Nacho Movie! (I call movies like that Nachos ’cause they’re cheesy and corny and fun. Yes, I’m a dork. You knew that. Unless it’s your first visit to this blog and if so, now you know. )
Saturday morning I was able to join up with Evolution Fitness for a group workout. 20 minutes of HIIT followed by 20 minutes of weights. I’d been missing those ladies! After the workout I went directly to the grocery stores. Girlie and I spent most of the afternoon snuggled up on the couch watching kiddo movies on Netflix and watching the snow fall outside our windows. It’s light, fluffy, wet snow that’s staying as perfect frosting on all the trees. We also played a little more Clue.
After Girlie went to bed HH and I decided to watch a more substantial movie. Beasts of the Southern Wild. Beautiful and sad and made me want to wake up Girlie just to tell her how much I love her.
How was your week? Does the full moon mess with your head? Any new shoes you’d like to brag about? Or shoe catastrophes you want sympathy for?
