Hey There Friends! This weekend we celebrated Girlie’s birthday with her friends. (She officially turns 8 on Thursday. It never works to have her friend party on the holiday weekend.)
Saturday I woke up bright and early to get a good workout in before the party. I wore the new bic band I won in an instagram contest! How cute is that headband?! I wear workout headbands All. The. Time. so I picked one out that will work with most of my summer outfits.
We had the birthday party at the gymnastics place Girlie goes to. She was so excited to share it with her friends! The party went soo well. The coaches were great with the kids and Girlie just had the best time sharing her passion with her friends.
After the gymnastics portion of the day three friends came back to our place for Girlie’s first slumber party. Now, we’ve had plenty of 1 friend sleepovers but the dynamic of a true slumber party is completely different. There were some rough patches. There were a couple points when they couldn’t all agree on an activity so I intervened. One friend got homesick and had her mom pick her up, which caused some tears. Fortunately the little group banded together and Girlie was able to perk back up. That friend’s mom was kind enough to bring her back in the morning for breakfast and more pool fun and outdoor play. HH made a run to Dunkins for donuts for the girls and iced coffee for me. I had gone to bed late and gotten up early with the girls so I told him to get me the biggest iced coffee possible. Here’s what he brought home:
I didn’t even know you could get a Box ‘o Joe that was iced coffee!
Yesterday was one of those wonderfully long restful summer Sundays. (possibly because I was up early and had a little bit of iced coffee to start the day). The slumber party guests went home by lunchtime and we spent most of the day relaxing by and in the pool. Even Spenser enjoyed hanging out poolside.
Have you ever hosted a slumber party? Any tips/tricks?
