Trust me on this. I ate about a half a pan on Saturday night. No Bueno. On a positive note, they were delightful. I used this recipe, only I doubled the cocoa powder.
With that classy title and intro, how about I recap my weekend and share a few thoughts?
Remember when I broke up with the scale? Well, I actually won a pretty fancy one from Cynthia back in the fall. I knew I would need one for my ACE Health Coaching. I also knew I would need a body fat analyzer so I put one on my Christmas list and HH got it for me. (No nasty comments, he got it to support me in my starting a business.)
I decided to get a post-holiday baseline on Friday 1/2 and do a weekly weigh-in/bodyfat % for about a month to keep myself accountable. Well, this Friday’s stats totally proved my point about the futitility of just going by weight. See, I had a great week of workouts and clean eating. The scale showed absolutely no change. Nada. The bodyfat analyzer? That showed a whole different story. I actually lost 2 pounds of fat and put on 2 pounds of lean mass!
Friday night I was done. It had been a busy week back to work, I had gotten a good workout in, and despite my plans to watch a movie with HH I completely ran out of gas. I was in bed shortly after Girlie and asleep before 10:00. It was necessary.
Girlie and I had a girls’ day Saturday. One of our friends got HH a ticket to the Pats’ game so he left in the morning to meet up and go to the game.
I had made plans for Girlie and I to meet friends at the gym on Saturday morning. The girls got to use the kid’s fitness room while the moms got our workouts in. Saturday was strictly cardio for me. I did about a half hour of steady state and about 15 minutes of intervals.
I started listening to TED talks to ease my Serial withdrawal. I learned that listening to the wrong (or right, depending on perspective) feminist TED talk can make me want to stop doing cardio and lift heavy things. I needed a cardio day though so I fought the urge. Plus, I probably would’ve ripped some poor college kid’s head off for not racking his weights.
Girlie and I had decided to have an at home spa day on Saturday afternoon. I have 2 microwavable neck pillows so we each had a warm pillow for our necks. I made cucumber water (Girlie was not a fan) to sip while I gave us each pedicures.
I had been watching Once Upon a Time and got 20 episodes in before
realizing deciding that it is completely appropriate for Girlie. She agreed to watch the pilot, then we binge watched many episodes for the rest of the afternoon. It was a wonderfully snuggly, girly, mommy-daughter afternoon.
I had planned to go to church Sunday morning but I slept poorly Saturday night. I always do when I know HH will be coming in late. (Strangely I do better if I know he’s out for the night.) So I decided to turn off my alarm and let my body decide on the plan. My body decided sleep was more important 😉 Actually, my body decided to wake up a half hour before church and I didn’t want to spend it stressing and frantically trying to get us ready.
Instead I spent the day tackling Mount Laundry, making quinoa stuffed peppers, blogging, and de-Christmas-ing our house. Everything looks so empty:-(
How was your weekend? How long do you leave up your Christmas decorations? I usually like to get them down on New Year’s Day but this year we decided to give them a little more time.
