It’s the first Saturday of the month, time to join Coco, Deb, and Lynda for the Ultimate Coffee Date linkup. I’ve been super busy the past few weeks and blogging had to take the backseat so I figure this is a great chance to catch up. Go ahead and pour yourself a cup.
If we were meeting for coffee the first thing I would tell you is that I passed the ACE Health Coach Exam and I am now officially an ACE Certified Health Coach!!! A lot of my time the past few weeks has been spent studying. Going in to the exam I was super nervous! I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate how computerized testing lets you get your score immediately. Last time I took a certification exam I had to wait weeks for the results to come in the mail.
I would want to mention that my experience testing at Kaplan University in South Portland was… perfect. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. I actually had an exam room and proctor to myself. When she was going over the expectations for being quiet during the exam she laughed and joked about not being so loud that I would disturb people in other rooms, which really helped my anxiety. It really is the little personal touches that make an experience. Note- This isn’t a sponsored post, I just like to acknowledge excellent customer service.
After my exam we went out to the new Mexican restaurant in town, Cinco de Mayo. I celebrated becoming a certified health coach with a steak burrito and a margarita the size of my head. As Emerson said, “a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds”.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask if you have any major accomplishments you’d like to celebrate. I’d also want to know if you’ve ever worked with or considered working with a health coach. I might even slip in that I’m going to be offering a very limited time introductory rate for coaching and ask if you were interested. Absolutely zero pressure though.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that it’s been a rough month, health-wise. I had a couple migraines. I caught a miserable bad cold/respiratory infection. I got a flu shot so I’m pretty sure it wasn’t the flu. (Although I’ve heard that you can get the flu but might luck out with a milder case… hmmm.) Anyway, I was barely functioning for about a week. I would drag myself out of bed and work just enough to not need to take a sick day then go home and crawl back in bed. I took 8 days off from the gym, laundry piled up, and HH and Girlie were on their own for meals. Spenser and Mac enjoyed keeping me company though.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask how you and your family have fared health-wise this winter.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that HH and I had intended to go out for dinner the first weekend night I was feeling better but our plans fell through. I would definitely brag on the amazing meal he made me instead.
Then I’d ask what brag-worthy things your partner has been up to lately.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that Girlie participated in her school’s Young Inventor’s program. I’d share how this took a lot more time and effort than was expected but that in the end she had a project to be proud of. Then I’d ask what your kids (your own kids, furbabies, nieces, nephews, whatever) have been up to.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you we’ve tried a few new parenting hacks around here lately. I would also probably mention that I finally learned how to french braid. Then I’d ask if you have any new parenting or life hacks to share.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to know how your workouts have fared lately. Between sickness, snowstorms, and school stuff (Girlie’s and mine) mine have been mighty limited.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to know what you have to share! Then I’d listen, really listen, and enjoy every minute.
I love to hear from my readers! Please answer any of the questions in this post, or just tell me whatever randomness you want to share. Then click the button below to check out the linkup.
