Happy Fourth of July! What a perfect day to meet up with friends for a good, long chat. Unfortunately life and distance get in the way, so I like enjoy a virtual coffee date instead. Today I’m linking up with Deborah, Coco, and Lynda for the July Ultimate Coffee Date.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that my little girl turned 9 yesterday! She’s getting to be such a big kid. Her birthday wishes and gifts were a great mix of little kid and big kid. She’s also my inspiration for living healthy and faking my way to a positive body image. (For more on that, read here.) She seems to have gotten some height from her dad’s side of the family- Girlie is already up to my shoulders and is able to borrow my shoes! I’d chat your ear off about the reality of being her mom, both the easy and the hard. If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask how your kiddos are doing. I’d take the time to listen to the real, honest truth of parenting today. I’d also ask if you passed your parent(s) in height and if so, when.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that June was super busy around here! Between the end of school and work stuff car stuff and family stuff half the time I wasn’t sure if I was coming or going! Summers here are so short that I’m working on a July Must-Do list (like a summer bucket list except I don’t really like that expression). Yesterday it was really pointed out to me that we’ve been too busy. One of Girlie’s big request for her birthday was to play cards with HH and I. She’s been loving learning and playing new card games at camp and she wanted to share them with us. We had a blast and I’m going to make sure that I fit some weekly game playing into our schedule. If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask how your June went and if you have any must-do’s for July.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you how much fun it was having my husband do a guest post! Blogging is a hobby we don’t entirely share so I really liked having him join me. If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask how you and your partner share hobbies that are really more of one person’s thing.
I guess that’s it for today. We’re having a family bbq for Girlie’s birthday today so I’d better get on those last minute details!
If we were meeting for coffee what would you want to talk about?
