I’ve decided that it’s time to refocus on my fitness goals. Thanks to the bikini rebellion I’ll be changing my physique from a place of love, not hate or shame. It seems like this year has been 2 steps forward, 1 step back fitness-wise. I tend to store fat in my midsection (like a guy!) which is not only not the look I want but more unhealthy than storing fat elsewhere. Bah!
Last weekend was huge for me, in a bikini rebellion way. We went to visit my parents, who live right by one of my favorite beaches. I’m carrying around a good 5-10 pounds more fat than I like, especially in my midsection. I’ve definitely got more thigh rub than I like. I wore my bikini anyway. I had a blast playing frisbee on the beach with Girlie. I was able to get out of my physique and enjoy myself… but I want more. I want to lean up some. Acceptance isn’t resignation after all.
So I’ve taken on the worst health coaching client ever.
Here are the goals my client and I have agreed on for the next couple weeks:
Movement Goals: Three strength training workouts, one interval run. Try a yoga podcast. Bonus point for taking a walk.
Nutrition Goals: Not drinking alcoholic beverages more than three times per week. With the warmer weather HH and I have taken to chatting over a glass of wine, which is nice but not something I need to be doing every evening. Make a pitcher of decaf iced tea or infused water to chat over instead. Eat protein and produce at every meal. Take the hour or so one day to meal prep.
Mindset Goals: I’ve been trying to get back into my meditation practice for a while now. This week I commit to finishing the Take 10 from Mindspace. (I’m not going to mention how long ago I started it.) I’ll also check out that yoga podcast.
I’ve thought about sharing numbers on here but I don’t really want to right now. (How’s that for logic- it’s the blog version of my bat-my ball- my game.) Instead I’m going to commit to weighing in weekly and sharing the changes. I’ll call where I am today Program Start. (Note, my weigh in days will actually be Monday, giving me a few days to get posts written.)
Do you have any Movement, Nutrition, or Mindset goals to share?
