I’m pumped that things are finally clicking again! I was able to string together a good week of workouts and solid nutrition. I’ve lost a couple of pounds of fat in the past couple of weeks and I’m starting to see some changes. I’ve also had some great non-scale victories.
Dinner rolls are my kryptonite. Usually if there are some left after a holiday they’ll call my name until I eat them all. Neither Girlie nor HH are huge fans so when we had a bunch left after Easter I just said goodbye.
When we have theme park weekends I tend to act like I’m on vacation and treat myself like crazy. That worked fine when we hit Disney every couple of years. Now that we live here though? We have annual passes we go a lot. This last theme park weekend (more on that below) I broke that trend.
My last NSV for this post is the wonderful feeling of workout pants that fit! The waistband on my favorite capris (they have pockets! that fit my phone! and they aren’t expensive!) has been a little too snug, making it roll down sometimes. (If you gain in your belly you know what I mean.) Well, this week they fit perfectly!
Now, on to this week’s workouts!
Last Friday I got back to the gym after 3 days of not feeling particularly well and eating mostly simple carbs. Clearly it was not going to be a stellar workout but I was really glad I got it done. Don’t you hate it when you struggle with weights you can usually lift easily?
Saturday was kinda a rest day and kinda a “do all the weekend chores in one day”. So while I did not get a workout in per se I did do cardio cleaning and put in a couple of miles at the grocery stores. Please tell me I’m not the only one who always gets to the far end of the store only to remember something way back at the beginning. Every. Single. Time.
Sunday we took a family trip to Universal Studios! I logged 24,538 steps so no specific workout but was very active. I mentioned above that I ate better than I usually do at theme parks. Part of that was my mindset and part was that Universal made it easier to find healthy choices. We were at Islands of Adventure and there were lots of options like kabobs and salads.
Monday I hit a deadlift PR and was able to complete 5 consecutive chin ups for the first time in over a year! Woo Hoo!!
Tuesday time was tight so I did Tina’s Triple Tabata Workout. (Get a load of that alliteration!) It was exactly the perfect workout for the time I had.
Wednesday I took a rest day. It wasn’t planned but I managed to slam my finger in the door pretty hard. I didn’t break it but my knuckle was purple and my grip wasn’t there. Spenser and I enjoyed a nice walk though.
Thursday was back to leg day. I wore my Rebel shirt for Star Wars day and I think the Force was definitely with me! I had a solid leg day despite the fact that my gym was hot and muggy. (Not sure what was up with the a/c.) After my workout I had to stop at Dunkin’s for a gift card for Girlie’s teacher and managed somehow to not order anything for myself!
I honestly have no idea what I’m doing for a workout today. I haven’t figured out what I’m doing for cardio right now. I don’t think I want to be running and the boot camp classes are over. Hmmm. I may lift upper body or I may hit yoga. I guess I’ll let you know next week!
How have your workouts been lately? Any non-scale victories you’d like to share?
