Hey There Friends!
I actually strung together a good week of workouts! I had intended to get this posted yesterday but ran out of time.
Last Friday was Girlie’s last day of school so I took it as a rest day. It took my entire lunch break to make it through the car line so we waited until after work for our traditional last day of school treat. In New Hampshire we always went out for ice cream but there aren’t the local ice cream shops here in Florida so now we go out for fro-yo.
This week I started my new/old workout program. I found the first set of workouts that Heather made for me after the 10 week challenge. It’s been a lot of fun to see how far I’ve come in the past few years! I may not be as lean as I was back then but I am so much stronger! It’s a more traditional body part divided plan than what I’ve been doing lately.
Saturday was arm day. I had a cold the week before so it was my first workout in a few days. I wasn’t feeling very strong but it was fun to do dedicated arms. Plus, a new program in a new notebook always makes me smile.
Sunday we hosted a Memorial Day cookout so rest day. I have no blog pictures but lots of memories.
Monday I didn’t want to go to the gym but wanted to get some movement in. I did 2 of Neghar Fonooni’s Bikini Rebellion workouts from Youtube, the Kettlebell Quickie and Yoga Flow.
Tuesday was chest/back. I really want to work on my pull ups so I decided that instead of doing sets of 15 assisted I would just do 4 sets of as many as I could. That meant 1 set of 3 and 3 sets of 2. Some weeks I may do more assisted and some may be just as many unassisted as I can. Any suggestions?
Tuesday was also the first time I have ever been mansplained to by a complete stranger at the gym. Yes, I looked confused but that was because someone had taken the clip from the cable machine. I was standing there with a bar in one hand and a cable in the other, realizing that there was no connector. Apparently this meant that I needed suggestions on several alternate exercises and back safety. Umm, no. It meant that I needed to get a clip from another station. (Which I then returned, because manners.)
Wednesday was a rest day. I took Spenser for a nice walk in the morning.
Thursday was leg day. OMG I have been neglecting my quads. Bulgarian split squats killed me. Just killed me. (Edited on Saturday morning to add: how did I forget that 2 days after leg day is the worst? How am I gonna grocery shop today?)
Friday was shoulders. I love working shoulders. Mine were really weak back when I first did this program so it was fun to feel/see how much stronger I am now. I didn’t get a selfie yesterday but here’s one from a couple of weeks ago.
