I tend to find myself thinking of fresh starts and new goals at this time of year. Something about buying new school supplies and seeing kids climb into those big yellow buses makes me want to start something new. So with Girlie back in school I’ve set a couple goals for myself.
One of those goals involves this here blog. The middle school schedule is different than elementary so I won’t be taking my lunch break to pick Girlie up at the bus stop. I’m committing to writing for a half hour at least 3 days per week. Those won’t all be blog posts; I also have some fiction rattling around in my head and plan to do some good journaling for myself. I will commit to at least one post per week. Self hosting a blog isn’t terribly expensive but it isn’t free either. I feel bad paying for something I’m not using.
My other goal is fitness related. HH and I have both struggled since shortly before the big move. Stress eating big time led to some pretty bad habits. Pizza Friday and Takeout Thursday and beer on Sunday and bagels on Monday… all of those are things that can fit into a healthy lifestyle. Just not all in the same week or two. (facepalm)
At any given time over the past two years one of us would be health focused and the other would be
sabotaging slipping, alternating of course. HH had done Body for Life a few years ago and had great results. He mentioned thinking about doing it again. We talked about it and decided to do the Body for Life Challenge together. You guys know how much I enjoy doing challenges. I’m really excited to be doing a challenge with HH this time!
We won’t be following the challenge exactly. Between Hashimoto’s and migraines I need to be careful what supplements I use and how I structure my workouts. Girlie and I will continue working out at the Y together. HH has his own gym membership and he can join us on weekends if he wants. (It was only an extra $4 to include him in our membership.) I’ll write up a healthy meal plan each week that we can all enjoy. Probably one good cheat day per week with some discretionary calories each day. I know some folks don’t do well with cheat days but I have a history of doing well with them. I’ll share more on that another day.
Registration for this 12 week round of the Body for Life Challenge ends on August 21st. It’s 12 weeks long so finishes up just before the holidays. If you’re interested, register (it’s free!) and let me know. My name in the forums etc is goodngoodforya.
Do you tend to make back-to-school goals for yourself? Any you’d like to share? Have you ever done the Body for Life Challenge?
