Hey There Friends!
I got caught up on some blog reading this week and realized that it has been way way waaayyyy too long since I’ve just randomly rambled about what’s going on in my life. I have a lot of partially finished posts but don’t want to finish them. And it’s Friday. And this is my hobby and should be fun. So, based on some of the pictures in my phone and some thoughts in my mind…
It’s summer break here. Girlie had one week of horse riding day camp, which she really enjoyed. Otherwise she’s having a bit of an old school summer vacation. She has some friends here in the neighborhood and they’ve been loving going to one another’s houses, swimming in pools, riding bikes and yes, potentially enjoying far too much screen time. I’m ok with that. No judging.
With summer break I’ve been able to sleep in a little. It’s really only about 15 or 20 minutes but it really makes a difference.
I did realize that my steps have been down by about 2000 per day and I’ve been just a little under meeting my calorie burn goal, even on gym days. I realized yesterday that it’s the difference of walking Girlie to the bus stop. So I’m trying to figure out a way to work that back in. I’m thinking I’ll try to actually get up and walk when my Fitbit tells me how many steps I have left each hour. But honestly I suck at that. Or I could try to get out of the house a bit earlier for my walk with Spenser. But I’m loving the sleep. Any suggestions?
Speaking of working out… you all probably know that I completed Superheroine Fitness. I even published my wrap up. I had picked out a summer strength training program for Girlie and I to do. Then my Instagram friend Kerrie put out a program with her husband and I bought it figuring it would be perfect for once school started. Except it was even better for Girlie and I. So I did 2 weeks of the program I had picked initially and now we’ve started the new DisFitLife program.
I’ve been working from the lanai a lot lately and Spenser is definitely a fan. Soon it’ll be too hot and I’ll be stuck inside but for now I’m absolutely loving the chance! My last job was work from home but I was tied to a phone and a desktop computer. This job is completely laptop based and I have a lot more flexibility in general.
I don’t know if you guys have noticed over the past few years but I pretty much live on breakfast food. Like, most days I have breakfast food for two meals. Sometimes three. My waffle iron is probably my favorite small appliance. Well, except my coffeemaker. Duh.
I discovered G Butter, especially the brownie batter variety. Here I used it as filling between 2 pieces of chocolate protein waffle.
We finally got furniture for the den/fireplace room/bookcase room/library whatever you want to call that room. We went with two loveseats. It was heartbreaking getting rid of my comfy green chair that I’d had forever. I have a post started about that chair that I may actually finish one of these days. Maybe. The loveseats are great though because Girlie and I can sit side by side in one to chat or both sprawl separately to read.
I’ve been listening to The Leviathan Chronicles while walking Spenser and doing chores. It’s funny how different forms of media age. The podcast started in 2008 and while none of the actual material feels dated some of the first season intros refer to their MySpace page. Alas, I don’t think I’ll find those links anymore.
And here’s a picture of Gwen being a cute and sleepy floofball because both of the boys got pictures in this post. (Oh the pink toe beans!!)
I guess that’s it! Do you have anything you’d like to ramble about? Anything new (or old?) you’d like to share? Any thoughts on getting those 1000-2000 steps back in my day?
