Hey There Friends! Today I’m joining Deborah and Coco for the July Ultimate Coffee Date. While I would love to meet for coffee with all of you in person we’re too far apart physically (and it would utterly drain my introvert batteries!) so instead let’s pour ourselves a cup and have a virtual coffee date.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d admit that my mind is all about Girlie turning 12 just a couple days ago! Twelve is such a strange age… not quite technically a teen but definitely more so than 11. Definitely not a little kid either. Such an in between year. But one we’re working to embrace! So bear with me while a ramble a bit more than I do on a typical coffee date…
Twelve is staying up later, watching the DC Universe TV shows with Mom and Dad and then sleeping oh so late.
Twelve is making last minute plans with neighborhood friends and biking or walking to one another’s houses. (It’s seriously like the 80’s over here!)
Twelve is being surgically attached to your phone until a parent reminds you to put it down or away. (Ok, maybe not so 80’s.)
Twelve is having some amazing conversations about deep topics like feminism and racism.
Twelve is being an utter goofball too.
Twelve is learning to use dumbbells more and machines less.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d thank you for listening to me ramble and I’d ask what you wanted to ramble about! If you have older kids I’d ask how 12 was for them. How was 12 for you?
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that I’m loving working out with Girlie again (we took a break for softball) and that the program I chose is a great one but… it had me missing barbell lifts. The same thing happened last time we worked out together too. So I fit an extra day into the program where I go alone and do basic heavy lifts. It’s definitely helping on so many levels! I get my alone gym time, my mental barbell time, and my body definitely responds to it! Oh, and I figured out how to get those missing 2000 steps or so in…. Spenser and I just have to get out the door earlier! (This makes him happy. I struggle a bit.)
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask about your workouts lately. Have you changed anything up or had any accomplishments you’d like to brag about?
If we were meeting for coffee I’d tell you that I got really behind in working on my personal trainer certification. Starting a new job, the end of the school year, and softball season definitely threw me off track. I’ve gotten remotivated though and got through the section I was bogged down in. My goal is to finish one chapter/section per week and get this done this summer!
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask if you had any goals you had back-burnered? I’d want to brainstorm how to get past the hurdles! For me it was taking the time to get through the long, kinda boring chapter I was stuck on.
That’s all I have for today. If we were meeting for coffee what would YOU want to talk about?
Oh, and have you read my review of the socks that stink-lover Gwen finds oh-so disappointing? I don’t have a picture of her with the magic socks… because they don’t stink. These are both post workout sock/shoe pictures. Such a sweet cat, such deep issues….
