Hey there friends!! It’s the first weekend of the month so I get to join up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date Linkup! These are some of my favorite posts to write and to read, I hope they are yours as well.
I wish I could meet up with my friends and family for a good heart to heart coffee chat more often… but life and distance get in the way. Doing so virtually is a great alternative! I have my coffee, go ahead and get yourself a cup, get cozy, and let’s chat!
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to talk about dogs vs cats as an analogy. I remember writing a post for the Tampa Bay Moms Blog about realizing I officially had a tween. Now I officially have a teen! Girlie turned 13 last month. She’s still a wonderful kid, but she’s definitely a teenager. A while ago a read an article that compared children to puppies/dogs and teens to cats. This is serving me really well!! As someone who loves both dogs and cats, and knows how to love them both, it’s a perfect analogy for me.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to know if this makes any sense to you! I’d ask about this transition time either from your perspective as a parent or from your own memory. Then we could laugh about some of our own fashion foibles from these early teen years!
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to talk about my current workouts. (of course) I recently purchased Lightning & Thunder from Jen Sinkler as a program for Girlie and I, and HH too! We can hit the gym together twice a week and do the field portion of the workout on the weekend, either as a family, the two of us, or just HH and Girlie. It gives me a chance to enjoy my gym time with her but also get some other workouts in too. I’ve also been focusing on my NEAT lately too! (Non-exercise activity thermogenesis) So I’ve been setting step goals and going for evening walks. It’s funny how different you look at chores when you’re trying to be as inefficient as possible instead of as efficient as possible!
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to know what you’re doing to get active and get moving. Are you doing formal workouts or moving more informally? Also- are you spending lots of time on the treadmill only to make a fuss about getting those groceries into the house in one trip? What’s that about anyway?
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask what you want to talk about! And then I’d listen… really listen. Because there’s definitely a shortage of that in this world.
If we were meeting for coffee what would you want to talk about? Do you have answers or comments to either of the things I brought up or something else entirely?
