Hey There Friends! So last time I talked about 3 books/ book series that I loved. Today I’m sticking with the list but talking TV!
- Supernatural. Quite possibly my favorite show of all time. Yes, I am one of THOSE people. Not just because it’s genre but because of all the amazing ways it gets things right about family (both the ones you’re born with and the ones you decide on) and life in general. My actual brother Bob is kinda uncle Bobby so… there’s that too. And one of the best quotes of all time about parenting comes from that character. “Kids ain’t supposed to be grateful! They’re supposed to eat your food and break your heart.”
- Gilmore Girls. It helps that I lived in a town that was, quite possibly, Stars Hollow, when Gilmore Girls was on. No, they aren’t perfect. That’s kinda the idea. Also- the reboot is trash, avoid it at all costs. If you’re that desperate for more Gilmore Girls just watch it again from the beginning. Yes, you have Lorelei and Rory but you also get the amazing Melissa McCarthy as Sookie. You get Babette and Morrie who are true relationship goals (seriously- they are both crazy but crazy about each other). You get Miss Patty, all sexy as hell well into midlife. It’s a show about being exactly who you are and loving it. I think a lot of my earlier Girls Night posts with Girlie had us watching Gilmore Girls.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Buffy is still one of my favorite strong female leads. Buffy was this amazing 90’s girl badass with awesome clothes and hair who was just stuck saving the world. Over and over again. And then there was Willow- decidedly bookish, one of the first non- tropey, non- straight characters. Joss Whedon (the creator of Buffy and so many other amazing shows) gave a wonderful Equality speech about a reporter asking him “So, why do you always write these strong women characters?” and his final answer was, “Because you’re still asking me that question.”
This one was a little harder to narrow down to 3! So, were any of these YOUR favorites? What are some of your all time fave TV shows? Are you watching anything now that isn’t super trending? I’d love to find something new/old!!
