Hey There Friends! It’s the first weekend of the month so it’s time to link up with Deborah and Coco for the Ultimate Coffee Date! Since we’re all really good at virtual coffee dates these days, go ahead and pour a cup so we can chat!
If we were meeting for coffee I would tell you that my daughter turned fourteen (14! gasp!) this week. I’d talk about how amazingly proud I am of her. While I do sometimes miss being able to snuggle her on my lap (she’s been taller than me for a while) I wouldn’t trade the bright young woman she is now for anything.
I’d talk about our passionate conversations over the past few months, how she firmly believes that Black Lives Matter, in LGBTQ rights, and that your feminism isn’t feminism if it isn’t intersectional. (Although she didn’t know that term, and her response to it was so pure it was funny.) I’d talk about how planning and celebrating a birthday these days is tricky! But that the release of Hamilton made it easier.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d want to know if you or your family had any big milestones lately that had you feeling reflective.
If we were meeting for coffee I’d talk about how much I’ve been missing some of my favorite local small businesses and how much I’m hoping that they keep afloat during this time. While my job is secure my budget is still pretty tight so it may be a while before I can afford many extras. It’s an odd struggle between wanting to shop local small businesses and needing to stretch my dollars. Doing my best to balance it out! I have been able to get out for a couple of non- virtual coffee dates at a local coffee shop with patio seating and I’m really really looking forward to getting to a yoga class at Green Locus again!
If we were meeting for coffee I’d ask how you’re supporting your local small business economy. Any suggestions on ways to balance it out?
If we were to meet for coffee I’d ask what you have on your mind. Then I’d listen, really listen. Because that’s always what I try to do on coffee dates! (Although sometimes I fail miserably, especially when I’m excited about something. Sorry, gotta be honest.) So what’s on your mind?
